Who are we?

HIGHLAND INITIATIVES is a charity based in Hong Kong and in France. It is active in the Tibetan regions of China. Highland initiatives leads Tibetan entrepreneurs in developing their social impact.

In 2006 we have created the first social entrepreneurs’ network in Tibet. Since then we have worked with over 50 projects, to further their social impact. We especially take action in the education, environmental and cultural sectors.

We run on private and public funds.

Marion Chaygneaud-Dupuy
Marion Chaygneaud-Dupuy Founder and projects coordinator
She is a Himalayan mountain guide and first European woman, who summited Mt Everest three times. By leading Clean Everest expedition, she set up a waste management model to keep Himalayan glacier’s water pure. She lived in the Himalayas for twenty years and since 2002, she is committed to support projects that restore Tibetan ecosystem.
Catherine Serret

Graduated in International Business Management, Catherine has a working experience in business. For over 15 years, Catherine has lived in China and speaks Mandarin. Her love for the Tibetan world brought her gradually to settle down on the Tibetan plateau at the heart of nomadic regions. Catherine is now based in Chengdu.
Lumo Tsering
Lumo TseringProject Manager Nomad Institute
Tibetan with a BA in Anthropology from Reed College Graduates, Portland, USA. Before joining Global Nomad she was the General Manager at Norlha Textile and Norden Travel. She also has working experiences in the NGO organisations such as Shem Women’s Group, Pentok Institute and Machik Summer Camp.
